Popping the question to the love of your life is a definite nerve-wracking occasion as it is, but a good location can make everything better, both for you and your potential future spouse. To help put your plans into action, Culture Trip is here to narrow down some fantastically beautiful places for you to get down on one knee in Malaysia’s capital.

Did you know – Culture Trip now does bookable, small-group trips? Pick from authentic, immersive Epic Trips, compact and action-packed Mini Trips and sparkling, expansive Sailing Trips.

KLCC Park

KLCC Park, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

A fun, lively place during the day and a fancy, dimly lit one at night, KLCC Park might be the most versatile venue on this list. Amaze your lover by the musical fountain showcase of Symphony Lake at night, or have some friends stand by with a surprise, further into the park’s wide areas. Be as public as you like, as the fountains are right in front of Suria KLCC’s back doors, or as private as you like in a quiet spot among the other 50-acre stretch of the curated green lung of Kuala Lumpur. Best of all, get a lovely photo op right at the base of the tallest twin towers in the world.

If you and your partner are nature lovers, but still want a night steeped in cultural civilization, Tamarind Springs is the place to get down on bended knee. Surrounded by the lush, local jungle and hidden away from the noise of the city, enjoy a strong variety of Indochinese Mekong foods in an Oriental and Balinese-inspired restaurant. Curate the most intimate surprise with the establishment’s friendly staff and prepare for the biggest moment of your lives.

Ampang Lookout Point

This absolutely scenic spot takes a little bit of a drive to get to, but what better way to clear your head and your intentions than a little road trip? Located on the edge of Hulu Langat Hill, you won’t find a better view of Kuala Lumpur city at any other point. Although the official Lookout Point restaurant has been closed down due to council issues, a quaint row of little night-market stalls have taken up residence along the road, providing simple local treats for you and your date to enjoy an open-air courtship. Calm yourself down by breathing in the super fresh air while your date is distracted by the view. Careful not to drop the ring, as the lookout is located on an incline and a cliff!

KL Butterfly Park

The tricky part about an ‘event proposal’ to the love of your life in Kuala Lumpur is the weather and the surroundings. Some days might be sweltering, most of the time it’s practically suffocating with exhaust fumes. Fret not, just head to the fresh green spots in the middle of the city and have some romantic, secluded time surrounded by nature’s best. KL Butterfly Park is one of those such places, with a setting perfect for a simple, bright occasion. Think a little garden grotto surrounded by beautiful butterflies and lots of sunshine—a true fairy tale moment.

KL Tower, Atmosphere 360 Restaurant

KL Tower, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Don’t get light-headed from the height! Enjoy some fine dining with your sweetheart at the city’s highest point, in the exclusive Atmosphere 360 rotating restaurant—providing you with a cosy, cinematic view of the entire city, right from its heart. Cuddle up in a window-facing booth or stare lovingly into your partner’s eyes at a table for two and relish the serenity on cloud nine. A space to kneel might be a little limited due to the other tables, so get creative and take advantage of the slow rotating platform! Your future spouse is sure to remember the picture perfect image of you and the backdrop of KL.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
