Pakse, Laos is the perfect jumping off point for discovering Vat Phou and the Bolavan Plateau, filled with waterfalls and coffee plantations. Backpackers in town will find the following hostels fun, reasonably priced, and easily accessible in the center of Pakse town.

Breakfast is included in the room cost. WiFi is available throughout the premises, and there is a bank of desktop computers in the lobby. Basic accommodation at low prices include dorm beds and private rooms.

A step up from some of the other hostels in town, Forest has modern bathrooms, a large common area, and a very helpful staff. The restaurant specializes in local dishes and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner at an additional cost to the room rates.

Down Town Pakse has a fun vibe and is a great place to meet fellow travelers. Ask German Proprietor Dieter about what’s going on around town, to rent a motorbike, or for help booking the next leg of your journey. You won’t have to deal with bunk beds here, as the dorms have mattresses on the floor. Grab a pint from the bar, and check out the views from the terrace.

Yummy has basic accommodation for the best price in town. Some dorm rooms have access to a small terrace in front. Indian and Western food is served in the restaurant on the ground floor. Dorms have small lockers with keys for your valuables, and bag storage is available if you’re leaving in the evening or going out on the plateau.

Nangnoi Guesthouse feels like a homestay more than a traditional hostel. A nice garden with tables to read or relax at are outside. A big common area in the lobby is filled with travel books. Single rooms, double rooms, and mixed dorms with twin beds are available at reasonable costs. Travelers who buy sleeper bus tickets from Nangnoi have access to the showers before departing for the bus station.
