1. THE MASH TUN

Whisky lovers need to check out THE MASH TUN. This cozy, tastefully decorated bar near Meguro Station offers a wide variety of single-malt and premium whiskys. Named after the original Mash Tun whisky bar in Scotland.

2. Roman Cocktail Bar

Cocktail Bar, Bar, Japanese

Roman is a highly rated cocktail bar near Oimachi Station. It’s spacious for a bar, and a great place for classic cocktails if you’re in the area. Japanese language ability recommended.

3. Top of Shinagawa North Bar

The Shinagawa Prince Hotel’s 39th floor North Bar offers panoramic views of the city including Rainbow Bridge, Roppongi Hills and the skyscrapers of Shinjuku. Their cocktail prices are very reasonable by Tokyo’s sky bar standards, at about half of what you’d expect to pay. Private rooms are available.

5. Genka Bar

Genka Bar has a good reputation in the Gotanda neighborhood, a place known for late nights, salarymen and inexpensive drinks. Booze and food are cheap, but there’s a seating charge of 1600 yen.
