Ubud is a tourist paradise and a laid back place in the mountains of Bali, Indonesia. Besides the exotic culture there, there are a plethora of opportunities to do some adventurous stuff around the town. The spot also has a variety of options for breakfast to start the day. Check out some of the best spots in the area.

Breakfast Platter at Wayan

Café Wayan & Bakery

This beautiful garden cafe will enable you to start your day on a positive note, with their amazing banana pancakes and coconut meringue pie. Known for their pastries and baked items, the cafe veers a little towards the sweet side of edible treats. So if that’s your thing, go for it!

Yellow Flower Café

Cafe, Indonesian

A mix of traditional Balinese and Western cuisine, the Yellow Flower Café offers something for every taste. Their coffee is amazingly fresh, and the owner only uses palm sugar from local sustainable farms for the pastries and other items. The menu is completely organic and mostly vegetarian. The open air ambiance of the place only adds to the atmosphere.

Dapur Bunda

A laid-back joint, though clean, cozy and tasty, Dapur Bunda is a local favorite. The coconut pancake is cooked just right and melts on the tongue, and the ambiance in the establishment is airy, open and with quick service to boot. The staff is friendly and very helpful and there’s a plethora of other regional Indonesian flavors to sample in the morning here.

There are a number of local healthy food joints in Ubud town, and Earth Café Ubud offers some interesting and healthy options; buckwheat pancakes, banana and date lassis and dragon balls. The place has gluten free options for most dishes as well, so there’s plenty on offer for those with dietary requirements.

Karsa Kafe

After your trek across the paddy fields, you can drop by this place on the way back for a filling and sumptuous breakfast. The local favorite – banana pancakes – can be found here as well, and fresh fruits and juices are also available. However, the place is a little more expensive than what you might expect.

Atman Kafe

If you love eggs, this is the best place in Ubud for breakfast. They make a divine eggs Benedict and the poached eggs are highly recommended. Their macchiato is perfect to kick-start your morning. Service is fast and the decor is simple and clean, while their pizzas are arguably the biggest brunch hits in town.

Warung Makan Teges

Feeling the need for some local food that won’t hurt your wallet? Try this place for some authentic local food done right. The nasi campur is their specialty and the crispy pork belly goes perfectly with it. Granted, it’s not your typical breakfast fare, but hey, what’s travelling for if not changing up the usual?
