Activities for Adventure Seekers in Georgia

On the zip-line at the National Botanical Garden of Georgia, you can enjoy a fantastic view stretching from the Narikala Fortress down to the garden. You can choose between slow and fast modes on the 270m-long (886ft) cable 30m (98ft) above the ground.

On Gamrekeli Street in Tbilisi, Global Arms has an indoor shooting range with three stalls. It provides protective glasses, three handgun models and earmuffs. You get 10 attempts to shoot a paper target 18m (59ft) away. And if you’re satisfied with your shooting, you can take that paper target with you as a souvenir.

At Rustavi International Motorpark, you can speed around on a closed track 20km (12mi) from the centre of Tbilisi. The racetrack is a bit over 4km (2mi) long, and you can take your pick from a Formula Alfa, vintage cars or a Formula Taxi. You can also go off-roading here. However, if this is not your cup of tea, you can attend one of the racing events instead.

The Abano Pass, leading to the Tusheti region, guarantees a major adrenaline rush. At 2,826m (9,272ft), it’s one of the highest and most frequently driven mountain passes in the Caucasus region, only passable via 4×4 vehicles. The road is considered one of the most dangerous, as the weather conditions can quickly change. It’s also narrow and unpaved, resulting in a much longer drive than if you were on a paved road.

When you go parasailing, you are dragged behind a speedboat while attached to a parasail wing (similar to a parachute) that lifts you in the air. The launch and landing from the deck of the powerboat are gentle, but the experience of flying through the air is exhilarating.

Another extreme sport you can try in Georgia is whitewater rafting. The season starts in mid-April and continues until mid-October, with the highest water levels in May and June. If you are new to this sport, try it either in July, August or September.

Heli-skiing is a relatively new addition to the adventurous activities in Georgia, and Gudauri ski resort is the perfect place to experience it. You’ll get to glide through pristine slopes that may have never been skied on before. And when compared to European cities that have heli-skiing, Gudauri is a relatively cheap destination for beginner and expert skiers and snowboarders.
