Where to Stay on a Budget in Guangzhou

China is one of backpackers’ top destinations, and cheap accommodation is available in every city. Even though Guangzhou is a huge metropolis, it has hostels for budget travelers as well. We gathered the best budget options around the city.

1. Hostel Sunshine Home

Hostel

Located next to Liwan Lake Park, Liwan District, Hostel Sunshine Home has an excellent location for backpackers staying in Guangzhou. Guests can choose from bunk beds in dormitories or a have a private room with a nice view toward the park. Liwan district belongs to the old Guangzhou and has several attractions like Shamian Island and Chen Clan Academy. For shopping and eating out, Shang Xia Jiu shopping street is close-by as well.

2. Lazy Gaga Hostel

Lazy Gaga Hostel is located in Yuexiu District right next to Ximenkou metro station. Attractions like Beijing Pedestrian Street, Pearl River night cruises and Haizhu Square wholesale markets are nearby. The hostel emphasizes their no-curfew policy, meaning you can cook, drink, watch movies, and play games in the common area at any time possible. Don’t worry about your sleep, as the sleeping quarters are far from the common lounge. Both private rooms and dormitories are available.

3. Guangzhou Benjamin&Jason Hostel

Located right in the heart of Guangzhou, Benjamin&Jason Hostel is across the Tianhe Sports Center, and you can see the city center from their sun terrace. Tianhe District is the modern center of Guangzhou and because of its central location, it’s easy to take the metro or bus to explore the rest of the city. Benjamin&Jason Hostel has 42 rooms, from dormitory bunk beds to private rooms.

5. Catalpa Garden Youth Hostel

Close to Yangji metro station in Yuexiu District, Catalpa Garden Youth Hostel has a big common lounge with a café, and rooms from dormitories to private family rooms. Though there aren’t sightseeing spots next to the hostel, the location next to metro line 5 offers a very convenient way to get around the city.
