Where to go in Macau for Panoramic Views

At 560ft above sea level, Alto de Coloane is Macau’s highest point. It offers some lovely nature trails, including the 8km Coloane Hiking Trail, which takes hikers to the summit where you can enjoy panoramic views looking out to the South China Sea. On your route to the top, you can take in both the A-Ma Temple, located just below the peak, and the statue of A-Ma, a new picnic area which you’ll find at the top of the peak.

For some of the best views in town head to Guia Hill Municipal Park. The top of the hill, reachable by cable car, offers some stunning views of the cityscape, Pearl River and the surrounding islands. Here you will also find the Guia Fortress, one of Macau’s top attractions. Constructed in the early 1600’s, the fortress features a fort, a chapel and an adjacent lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1864 and was the first western style lighthouse on the China coast. If you walk through the Flora Garden Gate at the foot of the hill you will find a cable car that takes you to the top where you can enjoy some of the most picturesque views in Macau.

As well as visiting the beautiful Our Lady of Penha Church, you can also take in some fantastic views looking out towards Macau Tower and the harbour. It’s a peaceful and tranquil spot and ideal for sitting in some of the nearby open air cafes. Penha Hill is the third highest point in Macau and stands 62.7 meters above sea level.

Macau’s own iconic Tower stands at 338 metres and is perhaps the most outstanding fixture on the city’s stunning skyline. It’s the 10th tallest sightseeing tower in the world (even taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris). You can enjoy 360° views from the level 58 observation lounge. On the 60th floor you’ll find the aptly named 360° Cafe, Macau’s only revolving restaurant. If you’re looking for dinner with a view, then this is the place to come. For the brave, Macau Tower offers both bungy jumping activities and a Skywalk where you can walk around the main outer rim of the tower, 233 meters above ground.
