Tasty Indian Bistro

Tasty Indian Bistro is an upscale, contemporary restaurant where you can find a mix of modern and classic Indian cuisine. Try naan, curry, chicken vindaloo, butter chicken, and lamb marinated in yogurt served in classic metal dishes. Tasty Indian Bistro even has a special Indian street food menu, which includes items such as an Indian potato pancake called aloo tikki and pav bhaji buns. Pair your meal with a spicy sweet chai tea, and don’t forget to save space for dessert. The extensive menu features things like carrot halwa, fried milk cream, and Indian rice pudding.

Old Surrey Restaurant

Spanish native Valentine Aguirre opened Old Surrey Restaurant over 40 years ago. The food has always been sourced from a nearby farm, and much of the cuisine has French influences. Old Surrey Restaurant is housed in an elegant old building with green trim. The menu largely specializes in seafood dishes, and the atmosphere is sophisticated. Plates are served with impeccable presentation, and tables are lit by candlelight. The Caesar salad is done the old fashioned way, and the service is truly professional.

Al & Jan’s Fish & Chips

Al & Jan’s Fish & Chips is a hole-in-the-wall joint that specializes in well-priced British food served in a casual diner-style restaurant. As the name of the restaurant dictates, fish and chips are the main attraction here. The light and crisp fried cod and halibut go wonderfully with the gravy on offer and the fresh cut fries are remarkable as well. The thick and peppery seafood clam chowder for a starter is also highly recommended.

MaguroGuy

MaguroGuy serves Asian fusion cuisine with an emphasis on sushi in a cool, retro-style interior with Japanese décor. The fish is always fresh and of high quality. If you’re looking for a healthy option, you can get your sushi wrapped in rice paper instead of seaweed and rice. MaguroGuy also does excellent udon loaded with seafood as well as tempura, pork cutlets, oysters on the half shell, and fried tofu.

The Cabin

Berry Mojito

The Cabin is a rustic establishment that offers new Canadian and American fare. Menu items include mint-crusted rack of lamb, sesame-crusted ahi tuna, spinach seafood salad, spicy seafood soup, and peanut butter pie for dessert. Pair your meal with one of The Cabin’s inventive cocktails such as the Left Bank martini or the berry mojito. The interior is done in an elegant 1920’s style with lots of hardwood, lots of old images of landscapes and mounted bucks on the walls.

Chef’s Kebab

Chef’s Kebab serves casual Indian food in an unpretentious setting as well as authentic kebabs. Most of them come with vibrantly coloured and deliciously spicy sauces. And of course, you can also find the basics like butter chicken, goat curry, and chana masala too; all served in an atmosphere that is clean, relaxed, and perfectly lit.

The Vault

The Vault is a steakhouse whose menu features new Canadian and American cuisine. A sister restaurant of Washington Avenue Grille, The Vault draws a more youthful, vibrant crowd. The atmosphere is unique and fun, complete with retro décor and an actual vault-style door. Menu items include braised short ribs, duck confit poutine, succulent steaks dowsed in cheese, seafood, and more. Conclude your meal with the apple crumble or the peanut butter pie. The Vault is also known for its diverse martini list.

Tap Restaurant

Open for lunch and dinner, Tap Restaurant is a bistro-style wine bar that primarily serves seafood and French cuisine. From French-style surf and turf to oysters, artisan cheeses, and bite-sized canapés, the food is elegant, and the presentation is contemporary. If you’re looking to try something a bit different, go with the Malaysian curry with roasted pineapple.
