Geocaching

For the ultimate treasure hunt, try geocaching along The Cotswold Way. All you need is a mobile phone or GPD device (create a free account at geocaching.com) to guide you to the location of each geocache. It’s the perfect way to explore some of the best views the Cotswold countryside has to offer – the trail runs all the way from Chipping Campden to Bath – as well as fuelling kids’ imaginations, and tiring them out!

Cotswold Farm Park

Run by Countryfile’s Adam Henson, Cotswold Farm Park makes the perfect day out with kids. With over 50 rare breeds of cattle, goats, pigs, sheep and horses to meet, as well as a tractor school, farm safari and adventure playground, you won’t be stuck for ways to pass the time! Don’t worry if it rains – the undercover Touch Barn, where children can help bottle feed lambs and baby goats, or hold a chick, will keep them happy for hours.

Arctic Quest

Forget having to travel to the other side of the world, you can go on an exhilarating husky dog sled adventure in The Cotswolds! Situated just outside Tewkesbury, on the banks of the river Avon, Arctic Quest offer the opportunity to be pulled along by huskies, through the green Gloucestershire countryside. It’s as authentic an experience as you can get, without the freezing wind, icy landscape and sub-zero temperatures. Perfect for children over six.

Giffords Circus

Homegrown in the Cotswolds, the magical Giffords Circus is a village green circus with bags of charm. Touring England throughout the summer, the family-friendly show combines dance, comedy, gymnastics, horses and live music, in a traditional setting. Their 2017 show, Any Port in a Storm, promises to be a thrilling, candle-lit delight, which will leave children captivated.

Kite flying

There are plenty of windy spots in the Cotswolds for some excellent kite flying. Head to Rodborough Common on a blustery day to make the most of the kite-flying conditions, or take a trip to Minchinhampton Common for the annual Kite Festival. Join in the kite-making workshop, or bring your own and get involved in some kite flying fun in the wide-open spaces of the Common, at this fantastic free event, ran by the National Trust.

If you’re looking for a rainy-day activity to keep the kids happy, take a trip to the Cotswold Motoring Museum and Toy Collection in Bourton-on-the-Water. Packed with classic cars, caravans, bike and all manner of memorabilia, there’s plenty to keep the whole family busy. The museum is also home to Brum, TV’s original supercar hero, and an impressive toy collection, which offers a great trip down memory lane for Mum and Dad.
