The menu features a decent range of traditional Austrian desserts – including apple strudel, Sachertorte and kaiserscharm. Located in the Old Town, the outdoor seating area is a great little spot for people-watching and admiring the glittering Golden Roof – one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions, which stands a few doors down from the café.

The staff are passionate about their craft, opting against industrial coffee and importing their beans from across the globe and roasting them directly in the store. As you might be able to gather from the name, this is one of the best places in town to try Austria’s dreamy chocolate cake, the Sachertorte. Traditionally decked out in frills, tuxedo-clad waiters and silver trays, the Café Sacher is reminiscent of Viennese coffee houses – institutions of tradition and elegance.
