Street food in Hong Kong and Macau is no ordinary street food. In fact, it’s Michelin-recommended street food. So to celebrate being home to some of the best street eats in the world, Michelin is hosting its first-ever street food festival at Macau’s Studio City from October 5–8, 2017.

Hong Kong and Macau have long known that their delicious street food is among the best in the world, and now The Michelin Guide (the world’s leading fine-dining authority) seems to agree.

In what is set to be a foodie’s paradise, the debut Michelin Street Food Festival will be taking over Gourmet Walk at Macau’s Studio City for four days, October 5–8, 2017, offering a myriad of stalls filled with Asia’s best street food creations and signature delicacies at wallet-friendly prices.

Admission is free to the festival, and standout highlights include Chef Chan Hon Meng of Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle. Meng is the chef behind the world’s first-ever street food stall to have been awarded a Michelin star, and his soya sauce chicken rice is worth turning up for alone.

Other talented chefs cooking up a storm will be Manjunath Mural from the one Michelin-starred Song of India. Don’t miss Mural’s mouth-watering chicken kebab roll with coriander yoghurt relish.

Guests should also look out for Singapore’s Malcolm Lee from Candlenut, the world’s first and only Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant, along with Japan’s Yoshihiro Tanaka from Kougaryu Honten; he will be whipping up his Bib Gourmand-awarded takoyaki in three delicious flavours.

Other highlights include Shanghainese dim sum, little Japanese eats and Macau’s very own classic Cantonese favourites such as melt-in-your-mouth barbecued honey-glazed Iberico pork with caramelised pineapple, a speciality from Chef Kenneth Law of Michelin-recommended Chinese restaurant Bi Ying.

Patrick Sauze, a spokesperson at Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, says, “Asia is recognised as having the world’s best street food, and we are thrilled to invite some of our most talented chefs and their teams to cook together in Macau for the very first time.”

Held at Studio City’s Gourmet Walk in Macau, an indoor facility that resembles the city’s historic streets, there’s really no better opportunity to stuff your face with some of the world’s best Michelin street eats than at this veritable food lover’s paradise.
