In what is possibly the ultimate photobomb to ever happen, this now-married Chinese couple accidentally appeared in a picture together 11 years before they even met each other.

It was way back in 2000 that Xue and her now-husband Ye both visited May Fourth Square in Qingdao, China. Xue was travelling with her mother whereas Ye made the journey as part of a tour group. Coincidentally, his mother was meant to be with him also, but ended up staying home due to appendicitis.

During that trip, at the exact time, both Xue and Ye were photographed in front of the central sculpture in the square, a tribute to the May fourth movement where Chinese students protested the Treaty of Versailles.

On that day, and for the next 10 years, Xue and Ye were completely unaware of each other’s existence. They then met in 2011 and ended up getting married, but it wasn’t until recently that they realised that Ye was photobombing Xue in the background of her photo in the square!

Ye shares his emotions of how he felt when he came across the pic, ‘When I saw the photo I was taken by surprise and I got goosebumps all over my body.’

Of course, the story soon went viral. Talk about a tale of everlasting love!

According to The Guardian, the couple’s friends see the image as proof that the husband and wife are without a doubt meant to be, and Xue and Ye look forward to sharing the story with their growing family as they get older.

Ye explains, ‘It seems that Qingdao is certainly one of the most special cities. When the children are older we’ll go to Qingdao again and the family will take another photo.’

Cheers to photobombs that shape your life and to the internet for helping us all know about it.
