Bikram yoga is all the rage these days. It’s a challenging style that involves practicing your moves in a humid, high-temperature room. The benefits range from increased flexibility to low risk of injury. Yogaloft, a well-established studio in the 4th district, also offers Bikram, with 90-minute sessions in 40 °C temperature (104 °F). For those wanting to push themselves even further, there is a Yin yoga class: an intense form that combines knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine with Hatha yoga.

Anastasia Stoyannides Hatha Yoga

Originally from Greece, Anastasia set up her studio in Vienna in 1992 and has been teaching for almost 30 years. Offering classes in both German and English, she approaches Hatha yoga as “focusing on a profound and honest way of practicing as an inspiration for students and yoga teachers to trust the beauty of their existence and to unfold towards a refined state of self-reliance and inner silence.” Annual retreats to Spain and Greece are also available.

YogaKula

YogaKula suggests we perceive the practice of yoga as equally important to everyday tasks. “Just like your daily shower and clean teeth, your body craves exercise after a long day of work.” As well as a regular weekly schedule, YogaKula offers retreats around the country for those who want to gain an in-depth knowledge of yoga.
