The capital of Utah has an extraordinary setting, with a backdrop of mountains and dramatic canyons. A buzzing city full of restaurants, bars, shops and Mormons – it was founded by Mormon leader Brigham Young in 1847 – it is also a center for mountain sports. Salt Lake is home to some top hotel spas, where you can indulge in anything from soaks in hot tubs with mountain-range views to oxygen or CBD (short for cannabidiol) therapies. Read on to discover Culture Trip’s contenders for the best spa in Salt Lake City.

1. Grand America, for CBD treatments

The Grand America Hotel building is magnificent, built in the 21st century but closer to a 19th-century 5th-Avenue pad with its sea of granite. Rooms have rich carpets, marble-clad bathrooms and big views. Four stories high, this is the best spa in Salt Lake City; it was given five stars by Forbes 2021 and has an indoor and outdoor pool, saunas, steam rooms, and 18 treatment rooms. Treatments such as CBD (short for cannabidiol) massage reduce stress, muscle aches, and inflammation.

2. Little America, for rooftop pool views

Little America’s best rooms are either in the hotel tower or overlooking the gardens. Tower rooms have big views, while garden rooms, in two-story blocks, are surrounded by lush greenery, with mature trees, blazing with flowers in summer and sparkling with decorative lights in winter. The hotel also has an impressive spa offering a range of massages and beauty treatments, with an onsite hot tub and sauna to boot. There’s a large rooftop pool with indoor and outdoor sections, plus a less busy indoor pool surrounded by conservatory-style windows.

It has a well-equipped spa, where you’ll have the chance to relax in the large indoor and outdoor pools, indoor hot tub and dry sauna. A large block-like building, it has rooms that are minimalist and contemporary in style, with downtown views, and the restaurant serves up burgers, salads, chicken, and a decent choice of local beers and wine.

4. Kimpton Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City, for in-room spa treatments

The look of Kimpton Hotel Monaco is that of an artsy private members’ club. Communal lounges have Chesterfield sofas, elegant white and black-leather upholstered chairs, and cushions and rugs in rich, jewel-bright colors, with warm yellow walls. The playful style continues in the rooms, with red velvet sofas, dark blue walls, and beds with polished wood or padded headboards, and these surroundings double as your own private spa: peruse the menu full of facials and massages and the practitioner comes directly to your room.
