Wichita's Best Dive Bars, Drinking In Kansas
Wichita’s dive bars are rowdy, but they’re plenty homey too. You won’t find any craft cocktails or imported wine, but you will find dancing, karaoke, and pool. Best of all, you’ll barely spend anything at these bars. Read on for Wichita’s best dive bars.
The Stop
The Stop’s slogan is, ‘If you’re not here, you’re missing out.’ It’s a popular local dive, so if you’re new to town or looking to meet new people, head here to mingle with locals. The Stop has amazing deals almost every night, with beer as cheap as $3 while shots of Sailor Jerry and Fireball are around $3.50.
Kirby's Beer Store
Kirby’s Beer Store is much more than a store, it’s also one of Wichita’s most beloved bars. Kirby’s is all about the Wichita community, hosting local bands, local shows, and sponsoring important Wichita events like Meatfest. The beer is cheap and the selection is impressive; the patrons are friendly too.
Shamrock Lounge
The Shamrock Lounge is a bit more laid back than Wichita’s other dive bars. Come here for a game of shuffleboard (a local favorite) or pool, while enjoying some cold beer. Don’t order a cocktail here unless you’re used to bottom shelf liquor. Beyond that, it’s a great place to hang out with friends, and you’ll leave without spending too much money.
Snoops
Bar, Nightclub, Pub Grub
Snoops is Wichita’s most authentic dive bar. There are three pool tables and Snoops often hosts karaoke. The drink specials are hard to beat, and the food isn’t bad either. Note that patrons are allowed to smoke inside, and even if the policy has changed, it’s likely that the bartenders will overlook offenders.
Lizards Lounge
Lizards Lounge falls in the higher end of dive bars in Wichita. The space is large, which is perfect for the concerts that Lizards Lounge often hosts. Even if no one is onstage, there’s always music and a chance for dancing as the jukebox in the corner has currents hits and throwback classics.
