London’s best yoga studios have classes to suit all levels. Renowned yogis offer a range of sessions in surroundings including a rooftop and a converted Victorian factory, providing city dwellers with the chance to switch off, limber up and achieve complete mindfulness.

1. Work out at Triyoga’s Victorian studio

A mainstay on London’s yoga scene since 2000, triyoga has amassed a loyal fanbase. Teachers have a minimum of five years’ experience and are trained in many different styles of practice, from bliss-inducing yin to fast-paced flows and meditation. Life workshops and alternative therapies also feature on the line-up. The flagship studio in Camden – a renovated Victorian piano factory – is a must-visit.

2. Sweat your stress away at Fierce Grace

London’s original hot yoga studio, Fierce Grace, offers six classes that differ in emphasis and intensity but are all based on the same core poses and principles. Vinyasa virgins will appreciate the shorter, slower sessions, while keen yogis can enjoy the challenge of longer, more cardio-driven 90-minute classes. Hot yoga this may be, but temperatures are a little lower than traditional bikram, and each of its studios offers something slightly different in terms of atmosphere.

3. Achieve mindfulness on Yogarise’s rooftop

There’s a real sense of community at Yogarise, a welcoming and inclusive studio located in Peckham’s Bussey Building in South London. From beginners and pregnancy yoga to dynamic vinyasa and rocket yoga, there is something for everyone and all abilities are welcome. Take your downward dog to the next level with community classes, which raise funds for local charities, and rooftop sessions, which are held in the summer.

5. Sign up to an intimate Total Chi class

Classes are small and welcome a maximum of 10 people, ideal for yoga newbies or those looking for a more hands-on session. Cool off with a luxury rain shower and swing by the Yoga Bar for a healing smoothie or turmeric mylk.

6. Reap the benefits of a specialist ChromaYoga session

An immersive yoga experience that combines light therapy, soundscapes and bespoke natural oils makes this a studio like no other. Classes are simply titled – from red to blue – and offer a full spectrum of benefits designed to boost body and mind. Sign up for a yellow class to soothe digestion issues and mood swings or a pink class to tackle deep-rooted stress. Expect plenty of traditional asanas and more dynamic relaxation techniques such as breathwork and extended savasanas.
