1. Gaudi Café

Located on the ground floor of a modernist building, Gaudi Café has paired a splendid and chic interior with a lovely terrace that overlooks central Córdoba and the bustle of the streets. Current chef Celia Jimenez has developed an extensive menu that offers traditional Andalusian cuisine, and her commitment to best quality food is seen in the eminent method of home style food preparation. While at Gaudi, order their excellent tostaditas with blue cheese and caramelized onions as a starter, and tarritos with mushrooms.

2. Cielito Lindo Café

Located far away from the hustle and bustle of the center of the city, Cielito Lindo Café is a hidden gem in Córdoba. It is a quiet family-friendly cafe that serves creative dishes of Mexican origin. The menu is bursting with tasty varieties, including nachos, tacos, quesadillas and vegetarian versions of famous recipes, all of which are worth trying. Prices are tourist friendly and the colorful individual food decorations will leave you wanting to return again.

This restaurant-bar is well-decorated with colorful and ornate tiles, and has become well-known for their great selection of cocktails like Tomatecleta or Bloody Mary – savory and refreshing for the hot summer afternoons. The ambiance in La Bicicleta is friendly and chilled out. Worth trying is the freshly squeezed orange juice, the aromatic coffee, and the tuna loin and tomatoes on wholemeal bread. Servings are big enough for friends to share.

5. La Tortuga

Open throughout the day, from early morning, La Tortuga is an excellent place to have a breakfast or early brunch. On weekend evenings it transforms into a hip dancing venue full of young locals. Owners Maria and Valeria only use fresh ingredients, without artificial additives or preservatives, and prepare it in a home-style manner. They also manage a small bakery on site, offering a delicious variety of freshly baked pastries and aromatic coffee.

6. Atrio Café

Atrio Café provides the authentic experience of having a breakfast in one of the most elegant and stylish cafes in the city, and can be found in an undiminished 19th century building. The cafe was opened only a couple of years ago, but has already received warm reviews and praise. It has early opening times, therefore it is a must visit venue for all early birds and coffee lovers. All drinks, ranging from coffee to gin and tonic, are accompanied with complementary canapés.

7. Café Viena

This coffeehouse was established by José Velasco Boquizo, who had followed his heart and worked hard for his dream to become reality. The name comes from his memory of working as a confectioner in Vienna, Austria, where he learnt the art of roasting coffee. Café Viena now provides a great variety of coffee imported from the most remote corners of the world. Their freshly made coffee, paired with their specialty toast served with natural olive oil, or delicious cakes including cheesecake, apple pie and almond cake, will make for a simple yet unforgettable breakfast.

8. DVinos Restaurant

Located in the very heart of Córdoba, DVinos Restaurant opened its doors in 2013. The menu at DVinos will surprise you with a pleasant variety of rich Andalusian-style cuisine, perfect for a late breakfast. DVinos offers savory gourmet tapas, including zucchini with cream or scrambled egg with mushroom, all with refined appearance and creative decoration and presentation. The open terrace is a comfortable place to indulge in tapas with a glass of locally produced wine.

9. La Regadera

The menu of La Regadera offers traditional Spanish cuisine with the addition of international elements. Almost all plates, like the salmorejo, could be easily shared between two people, as they come in large servings. The cod steaks are particularly juicy and tender. Members of staff always ensure that their service is of high standard and friendly. The decor is fresh and modern, but with the added quirk of watering cans dotted here and there, from where the place takes inspiration for their name (regaderatranslates as ‘watering can’).

Taberna Luque is a small but fancy restaurant owned by Antonio and Mari. Mari manages the kitchen, while Antonio serves all the tables. Antonio is friendly and provides thorough explanations of the contents of all dishes, since many recipes used in Taberna Luque’s cuisine come from Antonio’s mother. In Taberna Luque, the gazpacho with almond raisins and the grilled king prawn are definitely worth trying. For drinks, go for a glass of sangria de la casa.
