Capri was once loved and visited by emperors, queens and writers. Today, it remains one of the most beautiful places in Italy. Here are Culture Trip’s recommendations of the best places to eat, highlighting the natural beauty of the island and its culinary heritage. Capri, off the Amalfi Coast in Italy, is extraordinarily beautiful. Lemon groves, wisteria and bougainvillea cascade above a dazzling coastline, where rocky outcrops plunge into a Prussian blue sea. Beloved by celebrities and the wealthy, you might find your credit card takes a beating. However, there are some incredible places to eat for all budgets – here’s our pick of the best. Did you know – Culture Trip now does bookable, small-group trips? Pick from authentic, immersive Epic Trips, compact and action-packed Mini Trips and sparkling, expansive Sailing Trips.

Lido del Faro

Lido del Faro

Lido del Faro is part of a beach club that is spread across a rocky plateau at the sparkling edge of deep-blue Mediterranean. Expect fantastic views and superb fresh dishes, whipped up with characteristic flair from chef Marco Iaccarino. These include pillow-soft ravioli caprese, filled with ricotta and served with tomato and basil, and seared tuna with carpaccio of tomato and lemon. Traditional home-made desserts are another highlight – go for the chocolate almond Torta Caprese with gelato.

Ristorante Bagni Tiberio

This beautiful little stony beach was said to be Roman Emperor Tiberius’ favourite bay when he retired to the island. It’s only accessible on foot or via traditional local boats called gozzi. You’ll almost have your toes in the water when eating at Bagni Tiberio’s Restaurant. Dine on linguine with clams or simple grilled fish, fresh from the boat. Take in the view from the seafront terrace, decorated with scrubbed wooden floorboards, fishing nets and baskets.

Il Geranio

The amazing view from the terrace of Il Geranio Capri

Peek through coastal pines surrounding Il Geranio and you’ll spy the bright blue waters of the Bay of Naples. Il Geranio is a sublimely romantic spot, reached via the zigzagging coastal Via Krupp, commissioned in the early 1900s by a German industrialist. The open-air restaurant is perennially popular with the Capri it-crowd – expect big blow dries and small designer dresses – and offers excellent seafood, including mussel soup, fresh grilled fish and lobster. Stop by the Gardens of Augustus afterwards.

E’Divino

E’ Divino occupies a former private home, and has the lovely feel of a Capri townhouse. Inside, it’s hung with chandeliers and full of antiques and contemporary paintings. Grab a pew on the sun-dappled courtyard, dotted with lemon trees. Expect locally sourced ingredients, cooked according to the Slow Food movement. It’s a favoured restaurant for those in the know: seafood here is fresh from the boat, served up with handmade pasta and punchy sauces.

Saunter back with a full stomach to one of these villas or hotels on Capri, now bookable via Culture Trip. If you’re continuing your trip, why not head to Naples and see what there is to do there. You’ll be able to continue your culinary tour of Italy in Naples’ top pizza restaurants.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
