Although there exist numerous apps and promos for getting into the notorious Berghain, be aware that it’s just as much about what you don’t do as it is about what you do. Below are 10 must-don’ts if you want to ensure successful entry into Berghain.

You’ve Already Gone to Town During your Predrink

Sure, your weekend plans may include some drinking, but if you go over board during the predrink and arrive blatantly drunk at Berghain, you’re chances of getting in are slim. Prices inside are not expensive, so save it for when you get in, if, you get in.

You Don’t Speak German

Alright, this is debatable. Although you don’t necessarily have to speak German to get into Berghain it is a plus. Unlike nearby clubs such as Watergate that attract crowds of tourists, Berghain is not seeking that reputation.

You are not Wearing Black

You don’t have to be wearing black to get into Berghain, but if you do your chances of getting in are higher and Berghain will hate you a little less. If you wear black you will be more likely to fit into the crowd and maybe, just maybe, you will be deemed entrance.

You Arrive With You and All Your Girls

Despite the fact that most clubs seek out groups of girls, Berghain is actually the opposite. If you and your girl squad roll up together you’re not going to be welcome with open arms. Try breaking into smaller groups, no more than two or three, and then you might just get in.

You Arrive Before Midnight on a Friday

This is a rookie mistake; Berghain technically opens at midnight on Friday, and if you’re over keen and are the first to arrive the bouncers are not going to be very impressed. In Berlin the night does not get started until 2 or 3am, so going to any club before midnight is not recommended.

You Try to Take Photos

It is well known that photos are not allowed in Berghain. The club has even gotten rid of all mirrors and reflective surfaces as well. Upon entrance in the club your phones cameras will be covered with stickers, so do not think about taking them off. If you do and get caught taking a photo be prepared to be kicked out.

You are a Chatterbox in Line

If you talk in line while attempting to get into Berghain, Berghain will hate you. It’s simple, it’s easy to avoid, so just don’t do it. Easy as that. No one talks in line, so if you realize that you and your group are the only ones, that’s a sign to shut up.

If You Take the “At First You Don’t Succeed Try Again” too Literally

A better motto that can be used for Berghain is no means no. If the bouncer shuts you down do not waste your time queuing in line only to get shut down again. Go somewhere else.

You’re Dressed Like You Are Going To Out In Hollywood

If your scene involves wearing stilettos and a LBD Berghain is not the place for you, unless you’re a man. Berlin has something for everyone, so if you’re looking for something a little more posh just go to somewhere in Mitte or West Berlin instead.

You Try To Bribe The Bouncer

Trying to bribe your way into Berghain will not work. Don’t do it, just don’t. Keep your money for when you’re inside or maybe later you can grab some necessary drunk food on the way home.
