The Loire Valley in central France is world-renowned for its verdant natural beauty and abundance of châteaux, vineyards and historic architecture, making it a popular luxury travel destination. From central France to the Atlantic Ocean, you can hop around the vineyards of Sancerre, just southeast of Orléans, or head to Muscadet on the coast. Needless to say, there is no shortage of hotels in the Loire Valley region. Here is our rundown of the best for your next trip.

A modern hideaway in the heart of France’s ‘Valley of the Kings’, Loire Valley Lodges is a boutique treehouse hotel comprising 18 private lodges, pool area, and main house with two restaurants set in 300 acres of Duporterie forest. Dreamed up by Parisian art-seller Anne-Caroline Frey and opened in 2023, the hotel follows the principles of beauty, harmony and sustainability. Inside the treehouse rooms, the vibe is discreet, natural luxury. It’s pared back – the view is the star of the show – but the bathroom, equipped with double sinks and a rain shower, comes with the fluffiest white towels and robes plus Leif and Aesop products, while the king-sized bed has luxury Egyptian cotton linen. On the huge 25sqm decking at the front is a dining table, lounge chairs and a private hot tub (with a bottle of Champagne chilling in the fridge nearby).
