The Pink City of Jaipur comes alive during the spring, when the Gangaur festival celebrates the goddess Parvati, a Hindu symbol of love, beauty and marriage. The colourful affair draws tourists from around the world, and takes place right after the better known Indian festival Holi.

Both married and unmarried women partake in ritualistic fasting during the festival. Married women fast for happy marriages, while unmarried women fast to pray for good husbands
Women wear the traditional ghagra choli (long skirts) in a variety of prints and colours
The men wear traditional kurta – pyjama, dhotis (long loincloth) and pagris (turbans)
Like most Indian festivals, the Ganguar festival is a colorful affair

The festival is an engaging experience for visitors and participants alike
Colourful processions take to the streets
Music is an integral part of the festival
Displays of dancing contribute to the atmosphere
