As the largest city in North Dakota, Fargo draws visitors from across the prairies and beyond. Among the main attractions are the Plains Art Museum, the Fargo Air Museum, and Red River Zoo, plus shows and concerts at the FargoDome. It’s quite the college town too, with some 10,000 students attending North Dakota State University, which gives the place a buzzy, youthful vibe. Plus, the frontier city has a historic downtown with no shortage of restaurants, shops, and bars (often filled with NDSU students, of course). Here are some of the best hotels in Fargo for you to choose from.

1. Jasper Hotel, for foraged and locavore dining

The rooms adhere to a minimalist Nordic design, with clean lines and a few nods to the pioneer heritage of the city. The rooms all feature floor-to-ceiling windows but consider getting a suite if you want wraparound windows with formidable views. The hotel restaurant, Rosewild, is a destination in its own right, with an innovative focus on a mix of fermented and foraged foods, plus plenty of locally-sourced meats.
