Updated: 15 March 2016
Every March, Bogotá’s theaters, open spaces, academies, universities and bars open their doors to an influx of performances from 30 countries in the Latin American Theater Festival in Bogotá (Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de Bogotá). Now in its 15th year, performances ranging from cabaret, to folklore ballet and to puppetry brighten up the city in an explosion of light, color and art across 69 spaces. World-renowned directors such as Peter Stein will be taking part, and with Mexico as the invitee of honor, this medley of Latin America’s theatrical crème de la crème is not to be missed. The closing ceremony will take place in the Plaza de Bolivar on the last Sunday of the festival with contagious traditional Colombian music. Follow the hashtag #ElTeatroEstádeFiesta on Twitter.
