The simple wooden structure and thatched roof of the bar make a serene indoor setting, yet the best spot is the outdoor terrace to enjoy the sea views and picture-perfect sunset.

For a drink with a view, there are few finer spots than Mergulhão. The restaurant serves haute cuisine and a selection of appetizers that go perfectly with any of the wines on their extensive menu. The trick to wining and dining at Mergulhão is to arrive late in the afternoon, pick a seat outside, order a bottle of wine, and settle down to watch the sunset.

Bar do Cachorro – or ‘Dog Bar’ in English – is one of the most famous bars on Fernando de Noronha and is well-known for its evenings of live forró and maracatu. These two music genres have roots in Pernambuco, the Brazilian state that the island belongs to, and both show the diversity and rich history of Brazilian music. Both locals and tourists go to Bar do Cachorro to listen to captivating forró and maracatu bands, drink caipirinhas, and dance the night away.

6. Bar Duda Rei

Located right next to Praia da Conceição beach, Bar Duda Rei couples its laid-back venue with jaw-dropping views of the white beach and crystal clear sea. The tables and chairs are laid out on the sand and are protected from the sun by thatched umbrellas. To save ordering one beer at a time, ask for a ‘balde‘ – a bucket of beer covered in ice to keep them extra chilled. Make sure to stay here for the sunset for an evening you’ll be talking about for years to come.

7. Restaurante Varanda
