What does it mean to be ‘normal’? Everyone’s sense of ‘normal’ is different, and it’s this unique difference and alt-normal disposition that Rio de Janerio-based art collective Kolor celebrate in their latest photo series, The Normals.
Known for their avant-garde, arresting photographic work that explores societal stereotypes, Kolor‘s latest hyperreal photo series is as wacky, humourous and provocative as the characters they portray.
Confronting the assumption that most people want to be normal, Kolor present an array of protagonists who defy categorisation. They don’t just follow different social or cultural tribes, they create their own reality. Their resistance of conventions gives birth to what some might consider peculiar, absurd and bizarre.
Kolor’s creative and photographic genius, Pol Kurucz, considers the “genuine eccentrics, weirdos and lunatics” in his new series to be the “the new Normals”. What do you think?
