The strikingly large brown eyes of Bolivian-born blogger Ana Lucia Gutierrez are a huge focus of the fashion ambassador, whose popularity has grown rapidly in recent years. With over 100,000 followers across her Facebook and Instagram accounts, Gutierrez is the hottest fashion blogger from Bolivia. Read more about her history and the success of her personal brand below.

Born in the eastern Bolivian city of Santa Cruz del Sierra, Gutierrez moved to Virginia with her family, where she became interested in fashion and marketing as a young adult. After completing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Marketing at the University of Richmond in Virginia, she went on to complete an honors in Fashion Marketing at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City. It was at Parsons that she gained the expertise to become a successful fashion blogger.

In 2012, she began her blog, The Big Brown Eyes, as a creative outlet to express her passion for fashion. While progress was slow at first, her followers began to grow as she delivered high-quality images of the latest trends. 2016 was a breakthrough year for The Big Brown Eyes due to Gutierrez’s hard work curating quality content and her reaching out to new industry contacts. However, the blog has always been a side project for Gutierrez who works a full-time corporate job taking up the majority of her time.

Are we having fun yet?

The Big Brown Eyes aims to keep readers up to date on the latest trends in the U.S.A. and around the world. Her website describes itself as an “outlet away from the ordinary world and into the place of fantasy, luxury, creativity and love for fashion.” In her free time after work, Gutierrez posts her weekly inspirations, editorials, street style features, hair and makeup advice, and updates on her travel adventures.

As with any successful modern blogger, Gutierrez has a keen interest in photography. Her boyfriend shares this interest and has taken what she estimates to be 80% of the photos on her site. They use a Canon 7D and Samsung 7 Edge for her daily Instagram pics—her phone and camera are each equally responsible for the content she posts. Although she is aware that mornings and evenings are the best time to photograph, Gutierrez shoots whenever her busy schedule allows. As for editing software, she prefers VSCO for its easy-to-use interface and its ability to apply consistent contrast levels across multiple pics.

Gutierrez’s interests lie in travel, reading, and rescuing animals (she has adopted more than 10 stray cats and several dogs). But fashion blogging is her biggest passion. While her success has caught the attention of numerous industry insiders, she is reluctant to rely too heavily on sponsorship in order to foster a sense of authenticity and credibility with her audience. If her recent success is anything to go by, The Big Brown Eyes will be one to keep an eye on in the years to come.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
