If there’s one place in the world that takes pride in its coffee culture, it’s Wellington. The New Zealand capital boasts a dynamic cafe scene, with local roasters and world-class baristas bringing you some of the best brews you can find. Here are just some of the go-to spots all caffeine-craving travellers should add to their itineraries.

1. Mojo Coffee (various locations)

Boasting 20 different establishments in the capital alone, Mojo is a must-visit for coffee enthusiasts. The company’s headquarters offers barista training to their staff and the wider public, and it has become a popular tourist attraction in its own right. To add to this, the Wellington-native boutique roastery has expanded its operations to include coffee shops in Auckland, Japan and China.

You know you’re getting a good brew when you have a team of award-winning baristas running the place. Flight Coffee actually have their own coffee farm in Colombia – a product of their dedication to sourcing the best and most sustainable beans and ingredients. In fact, their roasts have become so popular that they are widely used in many cafes in Wellington and Auckland. Pretty remarkable considering the company has only been around for seven years.

A coffeehouse in the most traditional of terms, Havana Coffee Works is a well-established Wellington favourite. Their operation began in the 1990s, and relies on some of the world’s best origin blends for their in-house brews. The venue also wins the crowds with their reasonably priced selection of cafe staples and a bit of a rustic atmosphere.
