With its superb natural setting and abundance of native wildlife protected by a marine park and two national parks, Jervis Bay in Australia offers one of the most scenic locations for a camping holiday on the south coast of NSW. Whether you prefer to camp with a full range of facilities at your disposal or at a wild location that requires you to take a more creative approach to cooking and showering, there’s a campground in the region to suit your needs. So pack your camping gear, stock up on marshmallows, and prepare to pitch your tent in one of these top camping spots in Jervis Bay – bookable on Culture Trip.

1. Green Patch

Camping

Advance reservations are recommended for this scenic lagoon-side campground just south of Jervis Bay Village in Booderee National Park, with sites tending to book out a month in advance on weekends from October to May. Surrounded by the Aussie bush and just 200m from Iluka Beach, the Green Patch campground has hot showers and electric and wood barbecues. If you miss out on a spot, try Bristol Point, just off to the east.

2. Honeymoon Bay

A small sheltered bay on the Beecroft Peninsula, just south of Currarong, Honeymoon Bay lives up to its name as one of the region’s most romantic camping spots. While fully booked during the summer holiday period via a ballot system held every August, campsites tend to be available on most weekends at other times during the year on a first-come, first-served basis – the site is closed on weekdays. A composting toilet is the only amenity here, so you’ll need to bring everything else, including water.

3. Paperbark Camp

Experience one of Australia’s top glamping experiences right in Jervis Bay at Paperbark Camp. Located in a tranquil bush setting alongside Currambene Creek, just inland from the coastal hub of Huskisson, Paperbark combines premium tented accommodation with gourmet food at its treehouse-style onsite restaurant The Gunyah. Mountain bikes are available to hire, and you can even paddle a canoe down the creek to Huskisson.

5. Holiday Haven Currarong

Camping

Located on the northern edge of the Jervis Bay Marine Park in the sleepy town of Currarong, this family-friendly holiday park offers all the facilities a camper could ever want for (round of mini-golf, anyone?) along with direct access to both Currarong Beach and Currarong Creek. It’s a great base for exploring the Beecroft Peninsula, with plenty of walking tracks to tackle on the nearby headland.

Accommodations range from spa villas to waterfront camping sites, with facilities including a swimming pool.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
