Updated: 9 February 2017
If Melbourne does one thing right, it is creating the perfect city-study environment. With arguably the world’s best coffee, scrumptious food and WiFi available in most places, it comes as no surprise that more freelancers and students are studying in the following cafes.

Atomica

Checkered floors, dark lighting and WiFi – if you love hipster ‘dens’, then Atomica’s vibe is perfect. You can choose to be as private or as close to the Brunswick bustle as you wish. The coffee is roasted on-site so its quality is guaranteed.

Mr Tulk

It is clear Mr Tulk makes for a great study cave with its librarian roots. The name pays homage to Melbourne’s first chief librarian, Augustus Henry Tulk. The wooden-glazed tables complement the contemporary dining space. Enjoy quality coffee in a peaceful atmosphere from early in the morning until after dark.

Tusk Cafe

Chapel Street plays host to some of the best cafes, bars and shops. Tusk Cafe has a relaxing outdoor area and cozy inside dining so there is plenty of space to set up camp for hours of study. WiFi is available, and friendly staff serve some of the best coffee and hot chocolate. Enjoy their vast breakfast menu if you are feeling peckish.

1000 £ Bend

The mismatched op-shop decor of 1000 £ Bend can act as study inspiration for young university students. It is a great place for a low-key hang out with friends or to hide among the couches and tables for peace and quiet. Hot food and good coffee, 1000 £ Bend has all the vibrancy and mayhem of a teenager’s bedroom but maintains a classy vibe for single workers and students.
