Melbourne’s Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever

Picture of Culture Trip
Updated: 16 June 2016
The worldwide Kate Bush phenomenon is coming to Melbourne with scores of fans set to flock to Fitzroy gardens for Melbourne’s Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever. Inspired by the UK performance group Shambush, who in 2013 gathered 300 Kate Bush fans in a field in Brighton, Melbourne’s event organiser Douglas Leitch is hoping for an even bigger turnout and if Facebook is anything to go by a crowd of 10,000 is expected. Attendees are asked to wear a red dress, red stockings and a black belt as worn by Kate Bush in the 1978 music video for Wuthering Heights. And if you’re looking to perfectly emulate ‘Cathy’ then add green eye shadow and a floral headpiece. Organizers expect there to be an hour of practice before filming begins and you can expect there to be endless spinning, leg kicks and spirit fingers. The event is not-for-profit so all you need to bring is yourself, plus ‘your Kate Bush adoration and boundless joy.’
