Learn About Islamic Civilisation With 'Islamic Coins'

Picture of Culture Trip
Updated: 26 March 2016
The Islamic Museum of Australia is opening its doors for a special visiting exhibition which history fans, coin collectors, and antique lovers will not want to miss. ‘Islamic Coins: A Journey Through Islamic Civilisation’ showcases 100 original gold Dinar coins dating from the Umayyad period through to the Ottoman era. Spanning over 1,300 years, the exhibits on show are loaned from coin specialist Abdulla Bin Jassim Al Mutairi, whose personal collection of over 15,000 coins represents one of the rarest of its kind. As each coin on display has a story to tell, visitors journey through time to learn about the rich history of Islamic finance and the Islamic empires who used the coins for trade.

📅 March 12 – May 30
