Launched in April 2015 with special guest Sophia Loren, La Dolce Vita is an annual celebration of Italian culture in Melbourne. This year’s special guest is Oscar winner Susan Sarandon whose illustrious career spans 46 years with roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Thelma and Louise and Dead Man Walking. With Tuscan and Sicilian roots on her mother’s side, Sarandon was the perfect choice for event organiser Connie Paglianiti, who described the actress as ‘a wonderful example of not only raw talent, but the ability to remain relevant, active, and passionate.’ Sarandon will attend a leadership lunch where guests will enjoy a three-course meal during an afternoon of conservation as well as An Evening With event where she will discuss her career, work as an activist and personal struggles. Both events support the charity Bully Zero. Sarandon’s very first visit to Australia this August will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Oscar-winning film Thelma and Louise.
