This annual event invites Western Australia’s best artists to the scene, collaborating with fashion and lifestyle retailers, restaurants, bars and galleries to ‘dress up’ their front windows with a unique display that will catch the public’s eye. Since 2012, the fusion of fashion, food, art and culture have invited the public to make their vote on their favourite window for a chance to win a shopping spree in Perth’s city valued at $3,500; whilst the artist and retailer of the winning display will win a collective cash prize.
From Murray Street Mall to Queen Street, Wolf Lane and London Court there are a over 40 retailers throughout the city participating, bringing more extravagant displays than ever before. Although their displays each uniquely showcase the new collections of the season, they are limited only by the imagination of the artist – in other words, there is a stunning array of creative masterpieces on display throughout the city bursting with colour and elegance.
Collaborations in this year’s Windows of the City include:
Alannah Hill with Intan Zuhari, Alex Hotel and Shadow Wine Bar with Ruby Smedley, Amongst the Stars with Lorna Flynn, Bar Lafayette with Robert Jenkins, Bivouac with Joanna Sulkowski, Burlesque Baby with Tammy Lee Spouge, East Village with Seonaidh Murphy, Four Seasons with Karen Chappelow, Generics with Scott-Patrick Mitchell, Kailis with Hayley Kershaw, Koko Black with Adam Craemer, Northside Books with Michelle Pike, Print Hall/Small Print with Sioux Tempestt, The Aviary with Maria Carbone, The Flour Factory with Jarrad Seng and Toni & Guy with Bradley Purser.
