Cinematographic Pride At Melbourne Queer Film Festival

Picture of Culture Trip
Updated: 30 March 2016
Australia’s largest and longest-running queer film festival, MQFF, returns to the heart of Melbourne for 12 days of cinematographic PRIDE. With over 100 films from across the world on show, fans will be able to watch best-in-class LGBTI features, shorts and documentaries at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), Kino Cinemas and, for the first time, Cinema Nova in Carlton. This year’s centrepiece presentation is Remembering the Man from directors Nickolas Bird and Eleanor Sharpe. Based on Timothy Conigrave’s acclaimed memoir Holding the Man, the movie documentary chronicles the relationship between Conigrave and his long term partner John Caleo while offering insight into the emergence of the AIDS virus in Australia.
