The Best Places For Coffee In Fortitude Valley, Brisbane

Mona Mizi

When you think of Australia’s best brew, Brisbane probably isn’t at the top of your list. But these days, Brisbane is slowly giving Melbourne and Sydney a run for their money. Coffee shops have been opening all over the city with Fortitude Valley becoming a hub of outstanding coffee. If you find yourself shopping on James Street or looking for a pick-me-up after a night of clubbing, we have the best coffees you should try in Fortitude Valley.

Long black from Jamie’s Espresso

Jamie’s Espresso Bar

A humble hole-in-the-wall establishment overlooking some of the Valley’s hippest graffiti, Jamie’s Espresso Bar is a must-visit if you find yourself shopping on James St. Jamie’s coffee is unrivalled and they have a selection of small snacks and baked goods which you can enjoy perched at their bar or sitting on a cushioned milk crate while people watching all walks of life around James Street. The best thing about Jamie’s, though, is its extended trading hours which means you can get a coffee or a drink or mix both by ordering one of Jamie’s renowned espresso martinis.

Takeaway Coffee from Fonzie Abbott

Fonzie Abbott’s motto is Drink coffee, drink good coffee. Come out and get it, sit down, enjoy, relax and do sweet FA for as little or as long as you want,’ and we couldn’t agree more. Fonzie’s roasts their own beans and they have a small outlet just behind the shops on James Street with covered outdoor seating. They offer a range of snacks and their coffees come in a range of sizes from tiny to large which will keep any caffeine addict satisfied for the day.

Charred broccoli with bacon crumb from Campos

Campos Coffee

Campos is a bit of a Queensland institution and is the perfect place to stop for brunch or an incredible brew. Campos roasts all their own beans and they run cupping courses in their Fortitude Valley store. Their brunch menu is remarkable and changes monthly, reflecting their close attention to seasonal changes. They also have dog parking if you find yourself on a coffee date with your favourite furry friend.

Takeaway coffee from Bellissimo

Belissimo Coffee

If you are looking for award-winning coffee then Belissimo is your go-to. It’s a favourite amongst weekend cyclists and it has seating outside and upstairs. We absolutely love their range of pre-bottled cold brews (the milk ones are premixed with molasses to give them an extra sweet zing). They also have a range of freshly baked treats from almond croissants to muffins.

Outdoor seating area at King Arthur Café

King Arthur Café

If you are looking to sit down and take a load off, King Arthur Café is your best bet. Their brunch menu is unreal, ranging from goat kofta to smoked hock brown rice congee, and coconut, pineapple and chia pudding. Their coffee is also exceptional and is perfectly enjoyed on the seats out the front of their store.
