The annual BANFF Mountain Film Festival is coming to Melbourne for four days this June. Since 1976, the festival has celebrated short films showcasing mountain culture, extreme sports, mountaineering, and the environment. Over 300 short films are entered each year, before a pre-screening committee selects between 60-80 films to be screened at the week long festival each November in Banff, Alberta in Canada. The small selection of films from the festival then tours the world; this year, nine films will make up the Australian line-up. Playing at Crown and the Astor Theatre this June, the films include the unReal, Paradise Waits, Unbranded, 55 Hours in Mexico, Builder, Women’s Speed Ascent, Eclipse, and two others.
