After a hugely successful Australian tour in 2009, Avenue Q is back down under and is headed to Her Majesty’s Theatre for a strictly limited season this August. This salaciously satirical puppet show tells the story of naïve college graduate Princeton, who moves into Avenue Q, a neighbourhood in New York where puppets and people seamlessly intermingle and attempt to come to terms with the harsh realities of adult life including failed childhood stardom, alcoholism, homosexuality and the struggle to find a job. Referred to as ‘Sesame Street for adults,’ this show is witty and hilariously relatable with songs such as ‘What Do You Do with a B.A. in English?’, ‘It Sucks to Be Me’ and ‘Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist’ and is certainly not for children. Winner of the Tony Triple Crown for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book, Avenue Q will be directed by Peter J Snee with principal cast members Sophia Wright, Ross Hannaford and Vincent Hooper.
WARNING: FULL PUPPET NUDITY AND OTHER VULGARITIES WILL INDUCE LAUGHTER.
