Melbourne Park

Play a few sets on hallowed ground at Melbourne Park, home of the Australian Open. Casuals can book a session at Rod Laver Arena or the surrounding courts and follow in the footsteps of Federer, Dokovic, Nadal and the Williams Sisters. Melbourne Park is home to eight indoor and eight outdoor blue Plexicushion courts as well as eight Italian clay courts.

Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club

‘The Spiritual Home of Australian Tennis’ is Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, which was established in 1892 and hosts the Kooyong Classic. With an astonishing 51 courts including 26 manicured grass courts, 22 floodlit courts and three Plexicushion courts, members have an enormous range of sites to practice their backswing.

Moorabin Indoor Tennis

Whether there’s rain, hail or shine the match can go on at the Moorabin Indoor Sports centre which offers a range of sports and facilities including indoor tennis. The centre has two synthetic grass courts for hire seven days a week. They also offer coaching for all ages and abilities as well as cardio tennis classes.

Boroondara Tennis Centre

Located in North Bawyn, Boroondara Tennis Centre is open seven day a week to the public and offers a range of tennis programs. The venue has 23 fully lit outdoor courts on offer in a variety of surfaces including 16 synthetic grass courts, two synthetic clay courts, one European clay court and four hard courts.

It may not be a world-class tennis facility, but Johnson Reserve Tennis in West Footscray has two public courts where you can take a hit for free.
