Burien is a young city about 10-minutes outside of Seattle, Washington. It has 6 miles of coastline, unique restaurants and neighborhood bars. Just like the town of Burien, the bars here are all small and out of the mainstream Seattle bar scene; perfect if you’re looking for an intimate night of making friends.

1. Tin Room Bar

Bar, Restaurant, Pub Grub

This was voted as the number one neighborhood bar in Western Washington by City Voter. Right next to the bar is their very own Tin Theater that shows movies, comedy shows and even magic shows. Not only is the Tin Room a bar and theater but also a restaurant. This bar is filled with neighborhood regulars and tourists wanting to enjoy Burien’s classic and historic atmosphere.

2. Black Zia Cantina

Bar, Restaurant, Mexican, Pub Grub

Black Zia Cantina is a Mexican-inspired restaurant and bar. It has live comedy sketches and music every night, not to mention a collection of pool tables, drawing in a regular crowd of locals who enjoy sipping the local crafts and playing a game. Though considered something of a ‘dive’ bar by Burien’s own, the place retains a certain exotic charm that makes it difficult not to like.

3. Sidestreet Kitchen & Bar

Bar, Cocktail Bar, Pub Grub

The Street is a fairly new spot in Burien: Opened in 2008, it has become a neighborhood favorite for hand-crafted cocktails and food. There’s something of an overarching hipster vibe to the place, while the spacious interior means it’s never too crowded and is a fine choice for travellers eager to chat and meet new people. It is also one of the best spots to drink beer, have a delicious dinner or a romantic date night.

4. Elliott Bay Brewhouse & Pub

Pub, Pub Grub

Elliott Bay has two more locations in the Seattle area and works hard to make this a neighborhood friendly pub. They have the highest selection of hand-crafted, certified-organic beers and it’s own brewery joined on. This place also sells their own Elliott Bay growlers and kegs for eventful nights back at home!

5. Pit Stop Bottle Shop

Bar, Pub, American, Pub Grub

This hole-in-the-wall bar that sells craft beer has become something of a staple on a Burien night out. Pit Stop currently has 18 beers and ciders on tap and 493 in the coolers, with new ones on the way all the time. It’s a small bar, so plan for a night of getting to know the bar host and any other wandering soul that walks through the place.
