L & M Diner

This small classic diner is just what you’d expect. There are about a dozen stools situated at the bar for counter service, as well as comfortable booths for larger parties. The interior is made up of hues of deep forest green, and dark chocolate wood, making you want to cozy up and drink a big mug of hot cocoa. Luckily, that’s on the menu, as is coffee, omelets, eggs Benedict, hash browns, gravy and biscuits, stuffed croissant French toast, and more. Breakfast is served all day, but you can also dine on lunch items, like paninis, soups, salads, burgers, and quesadillas. This is a fantastic place for kids, and there is even a small ice cream bar. So if it’s not too cold, enjoy a delicious cone, or have the staff at L & M dump a scoop of your favorite flavor into a glass and have a milkshake.

A simple, brewed coffee with cream and sugar may be fine for the day-to-day, but when you have time, mix it up and visit Espresso Bueno. The gourmet coffee bar serves drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, cortados, and of course, espresso. Espresso Bueno serves Vermont artisan coffee beans, so you’re enjoying the best of locally sourced product. Along with your hot, or iced, drink of choice, enjoy delicious kitchen items. A few favorites include the chorizo burrito, breakfast tacos, house made granola, and grilled cheese panini for brunch. The coffee shop frequently hosts events for the community, including open mic nights, stand up shows, and more. Delicate Decadence

This Barre bakery is one of the best about town, known for having the most delicious cakes and desserts; they often cater weddings, and other special events. If you’re craving a pastry to pair with your morning coffee, there’s no better place to get it from than a bakery. The menu rotates seasonally, but some items are so delicious that they never change. A few of these are the Danishes, scones, croissants, muffins, house made soup, savory quiche, and specialty coffees. Once a week, Delicate Decadence offers its customers a take home meal, large enough for the whole family to enjoy. These dishes tend to be on the heavier side, but in the past have included spaghetti and meatballs, Caesar salad, Swedish meatballs, and more. Of course, the cookies, cakes, and other sweet treats are a must-try.

Positive Pie

Just because it’s brunch time doesn’t mean you have to eat pancakes, waffles, French toast, and eggs. Try something different and have an early afternoon pizza. The thin crust, hand-tossed pies come in a variety of sizes, from a personal 10″ to a family-size 16″. The toppings are endless, including meats, fresh vegetables, different cheeses, specialty sauces, and more. At Positive Pie you can make your pizza how you want it, or skip the fuss and order one of their specialty pizzas. The menu also includes calzones, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, and small plate items. The grilled baguette and fried brussels sprouts are particularly delicious.

Morse Block Deli

All the food at Morse Block Deli tastes incredible because it is made with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Instead of rich pastries and greasy meats, the deli offers patrons a healthy alternative of soups, salads, and sandwiches. You can order a classic turkey club, try the pulled pork sub, or taste one of their seven signature sandwiches. The salads are crisp and fresh, including the chef’s salad, tuna salad, simple garden, and Caesar. There is a peanut butter and jam sandwich perfect for kids, and it can even be made gluten-free. Finally, the most expensive thing on the menu, there is The Undertaker; this sandwich is not for the faint of heart, with dozens of slices of pastrami crammed between two slices of rye bread. If you finish it in 20 minutes or less, you’ll get a t-shirt, hat, and go on the wall of fame.

Maplecroft Bed And Breakfast

Situated within a century-old Victorian house, Maplecroft Bed and Breakfast is wholesome, homely, and just what you need. The inn only has four rooms for guests, so there are never more than 10 people there at a time. For breakfast, everyone gathers around a round, wooden table and gets to know each other, share stories, and of course, eat. The menu changes frequently, but usually includes maple-cured bacon, sourdough pancakes with Vermont maple syrup, homemade artisan bread and muffins, fresh fruit, organic eggs, and fair trade coffee. Almost all of the food, even the butter and flour, are locally sourced. Maplecroft B & B is the perfect breakfast spot for an intimate experience.

Soup ‘N Greens Restaurant

Vermont is one of the chillier states in the US, especially during the mornings and early afternoons — so keep yourself warm with a delicious, hot cup of soup. Soup ‘N Greens is a casual restaurant, perfect for the whole family. Everyone can enjoy a wide variation of soups, salads, sandwiches, and breakfast classics. K’s Korner

Located within The Twin City Family Fun Center, K’s Korner provides great brunch bites the whole family can enjoy. Start out by ordering a few appetizers for the table, including spinach artichoke dip, calamari strips, or crab cakes. Then, each person can select his or her own salad, signature sandwich, or main entree. The lobster cobb salad, seafood fra diavolo, turkey melt, and lobster cobb salad are amongst some of the more popular choices. Once you’ve finished your meal, if you’re not too full, engage in a few family-fun activities. There’s bowling, laser tag, and various arcade games. You can even keep it simple by cheering on your favorite sports team on one of the many flat screen TVs.
