Ringed by snowy mountains, the historic town of Park City is arguably the best ski resort in the US. While the town was established in the 19th century during a silver rush, skiing became Park City’s focus in the 1960s. There’s superb powder here, as well as biking and hiking in summer, all set off by some glorious spa hotels designed to help you unwind after mountain pursuits. Each of the 100 suites has a fireplace for roaring fires, King-size beds, jacuzzi tubs and a private balcony or patio with soul-stirring views over the rugged landscape. The spa covers an expansive area, where you can unwind after a day out in the great outdoors with herb-infused steam rooms, saunas, whirlpools, meditation rooms, hydrotherapy and treatments from body wraps to therapy baths.

At Montage Deer Valley, rooms are very comfortable, with open fireplaces, a cream and off-white color scheme and floor-to-ceiling windows to make the most of the forested mountain views. Communal spaces look like a contemporary stately home, and the spa is equally grand. There are more glorious mountain views from the indoor hot tub, colonnaded pool, redwood saunas, Signature Elements of Wellness therapies, and the impressive fitness center, where apres-ski classes stretch to complimentary yoga.

The Waldorf Astoria is in a prime spot for snow-dusted mountain views, rooms come with signature Waldorf beds and fireplaces, and the hotel has handsome lounges with grand fireplaces and plenty of antler decor. The spa is likewise spectacular, with treatments using plant botanicals and Gua Sha, from body wraps to therapeutic massage, and you can maintain your grooming via the hotel nail bar and hair salon. There’s a well-equipped fitness center, and a heated outdoor pool for steamy winter swims.

Between Flagstaff and Empire Mountain, this hotel has one of the best spas in Park City. The residences are a combination of deluxe condominiums and chalet-style mansions, ski-in, ski-out in a complex that’s the size of a village. As well as the fabulous spa, with treatment rooms and signature massages and facials, there are indoor and outdoor infinity pools, and hot tubs with mountain views. Named “best resort hotel” by more than one high-end publication, Blue Sky offers a range of suites with minimalist interiors to frame vistas of craggy peaks. There are also Creek Houses, which are freestanding versions of the suites, whilst all have balconies, sprawling views and fireplaces. On a dramatic precipice overlooking Alexander Creek, the Edge Spa has floor-to-ceiling windows and bloom-to-bottle ingredients for its lavish treatments, and you can also wallow in the relaxation pool-with-a-view.

Suites turn the opulence up to eleven, with the most luxurious featuring decks and hot tubs. With a sky mosaic that changes color after dark, the indoor pool is ideal for basking, or you can soak in the large indoor hot tub with a two-story waterfall.
