Draught House Pub & Brewery is an American interpretation of the classic German Biergarten. The pub is mostly outside with a huge selection of local craft brews on tap, and there is a different food truck every day serving delicious treats. We recommend you go on Saturday for the free brats, but rest assured, there is a different great deal every day. Draught House is perfect for tasting several craft beers in a relaxed setting.

2. Live Oak Brewing Co

Live Oak Brewing Co is Austin’s oldest craft beer brewery and one of the best around. Live Oak’s style is similar to the old-world styles of Germany and the Czech Republic. It differs significantly from the common American trends. The Hefeweizen is one of the best outsides of Germany.

3. Pinthouse Pizza

Pizzeria, Restaurant, British, Russian, Vegetarian, Vegan

Nothing goes together better than pizza and beer, and the folks at Pinthouse Pizza have figured out to make the combination as delicious as possible. PHP’s craft beers are exceptional and creative. In wintertime try ‘The Dude,’ a White Russian milk stout with an ABV of 10.7. Of course, the pizzas are as creative as the beers. Fall’s seasonal pizza is the Oktoberfest, made with pepperwurst and caramelized onions served with a side of spicy brown mustard.

4. Thirsty Planet Brewing Company

Restaurant, American

Thirsty Planet Brewing Company’s team is made up of passionate beer lovers from all over the country. Their passion shines in their craft brews like the Bucket Head, an IPA with a 8.9 ABV. The brewery is open for tours on Saturdays. Be sure to make a reservation, because the groups are always full and walk-ins are often turned away.

5. Oasis Texas Brewing Company

Bakery, American

Oasis Brewing Company has a fine selection of craft brews, but their big selling point is the amazing view. Oasis is located above a lake-sized bend in the Colorado River. Grab a pint of their award-winning London Homesick Ale and look out at the stunning view. You’ll forget you’re in a major city.

6. Black Star Co-op Pub & Brewery

Black Star is on the hip side as far as craft breweries go, but their creativity and collaboration makes for some fine beers. Their Recalcitrant Dockhand is an award-winning porter with notes of coffee and chocolate. The food at Blackstone is delicious as well. So pair your beer with a fried chicken appetizer or try one of the gourmet sandwiches.

7. Hops and Grain Brewery

Brewery

At Hops and Grain Brewery, a commitment to quality craft beer is coupled with stewardship to the environment. Hops and Grain donates 1 percent of their annual revenue to sustainability groups, so when you are sipping on their Pale Dog brew, you are helping to save the planet. The folks at Hops and Grain are also big dog lovers, and they bake their own brew biscuits in house made from the excess sugars from brewing the beer.
