It’s only about a half-hour drive from the glitzy high-rises but The Colony is really a whole world away from downtown Dallas. Named after the historic Peters Colony in a bid to channel the original pioneers’ spirit, and designed as a dream city, this mostly residential area is indeed a dream, with an abundance of parks and trails for enjoying the great weather here on the shores of Lewisville Lake. There’s plenty to do here – not to mention easy day trips to one of Texas’ buzziest cities – but to find a homebase, you first need the best hotels to book in The Colony, Texas.

Walk your dog on the trails of The Colony Five Star Complex across the street to the north and catch a ball game while you’re at it – baseball, football, softball, soccer tournaments are held here on the regular. Then grab a bite to eat and a pint of local brew at the popular 54th Street & Drafthouse before cooling off in the hotel pool. End the day by curling up with your pup while watching another game on the flat-screen TV in your room.
