A man from Austin has reportedly filed a claim against a woman he met online after taking her on a date to watch a recent blockbuster release. Brandon Vezmar, 37, says that he was on ‘the date from hell’ when he went to watch Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 recently.
The woman in question, who has asked to remain anonymous, has responded by saying that the whole matter is ‘crazy’.
Vezmar wants his $17.31 back – the price of a 3D ticket to the movie – after saying that his date only lasted 15 minutes before reaching for her phone and texting. ‘This is like one of my biggest pet peeves…’ the communications consultant added.

In papers filed at Travis County Court, it is alleged that the defendant checked her phone ’10-20 times’ in the following 15 minutes. When Brandon asked her to go outside and text, the woman did so but never came back.
To add insult to injury, Vezmar says that he was left stranded at the cinema as he had taken a lift to watch the film in his date’s car. He then texted her afterwards asking for the price of the ticket back, but she refused.
The woman has responded, telling The Statesman that: ‘I had my phone low and I wasn’t bothering anybody, I was texting a friend, who was having a fight with her boyfriend. It wasn’t like constant texting.’

The woman has refused to pay as she says it was a date, and has a protective order against Vezmar due to him supposedly contacting her little sister to demand his money back.
