Alamo Drafthouse presents a special screen of the 1979 film, The Warriors
. The film follows a New York City street gang who is blamed for killing an important leader, and now every other gang in town is out to get revenge. Upon first release, the film was incredibly controversial and perceived as extremely violent. The violence in the film was blamed for inciting a few violent episodes at some theaters, pushing Paramount pictures to hastily pull the film from some locations. Today the cartoonish violence and ridiculous costumes have earned this film status as a cult classic. Alamo Drafthouse features the film this month as a part of the Versus: Round One series honoring the best battles in cinema.
