It’s tough to go away on vacation and leave your pets behind – they’re part of the family after all. It would be a shame to travel to the beautiful coastline of Galveston, Texas, with all its beautiful outdoor spaces, and not have your favourite four-legged friend along for the adventure. If you want to relax on the island’s beaches or stroll along Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, we’ve selected some fantastic hotels to take your pets on a getaway to the Lone Star State.
You are most welcome to bring your favourite furry friend along to the Candlewood Suites. Once you have signed your pet form at check-in, where you promise to never leave them alone at night, you are plain sailing. The suites themselves are spacious and come with all the comforts of home, such as a well-equipped kitchen and cable TV. Settle in with your loved ones, for a home-from-home experience on this island.
Dog lovers can relax at the TownePlace Suites, a favourite with those travelling with their pet, even large ones. The staff could not be more prepared for you all. The hotel’s dog run area allows your pets the chance to stretch their legs to their delight. If the pet policy here is not enough to do it for you, the heated outdoor pool with a waterfall certainly will.
This 100-year-old hotel is a real part of the history of the island and has a reputation that it dedicates to uphold. The spa and restaurants are of the highest order. It is pet friendly and will charge for your pet if it is more than 25lbs (11kg). The pet run is across the road, but with the Seawalk so close there is much to be easily explored on this incredibly dog-friendly coastline.
Right in the center of the district and dating back to the mid 1800s, this laid-back and elegant hotel is incredibly pet friendly. With no pool and not particularly close to the beach, this is a hotel that focuses more on the finer things and has an air of sophistication, with a grand lobby which is a clear example of that. The views from the rooftop bar are hard to beat, looking out across the old quarters and beyond.
La Quinta Inn has spacious rooms, a high-spec fitness center and an outdoor pool to enjoy under the sun. The complimentary breakfast is an American favourite of eggs, waffles, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. While pets at La Quinta are most welcome to stay free as long as they are 25lbs (11kg) or less, they must never be left alone in your room or make too much excessive noise. Good doggies only.
