The University of Houston’s Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts presents CounterCurrent — an experimental art festival spanning six days. The festival hosts intimate performances, large-scale spectacles, talks, interactive installations, and more. The festival will be centered around the Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston, but performances will be spread all over the city. Venues will become part of the art, as Houstonians and visitors are shown new ways to see the city. CounterCurrent will also hold CurrentConversations, a series of talks about the festival’s philosophies, the art, and the future of art in the community. All events are free, but reservations should be made in advance.
