Austin City Limits 2016 will once again take place at Zilker Park. The festivities start on the weekend of September 30th to October 2nd, then continue and end on the weekend of October 7th through the 9th.
This year you can expect a great line-up with performances from Mumford and Sons, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, and LCD Soundsystem. Other artists include LL Cool J, Cage the Elephant, The Chainsmokers, Blue October, and Cold War Kids to name a few. Also, a special performance from former Austin resident Willie Nelson during the second weekend of the festival.
The second most anticipated aspect of Austin City Limits next to the music is the food. The vendors providing the delicious eats are like no other festival in Texas. This year some of the vendors include Bananarchy (frozen banana heaven), Chi’Lantro BBQ, Mighty Bird, Shade Tree Organic Lemonade, Skull & Cakebones (a bakery serving locally sourced, non-GMO, and vegan baked goods), tamale addiction, Wholly Cow (only serving grass fed beef burgers), and a special addition added for the 15th anniversary is first time ACL vendor Micklethwait Barbecue.
Via Austin Kitty Limits the festivals caters to families as well, and allows your children to enjoy the festival too. You can expect painting, interactive music games, cool rockstar hairdos, dancing with professional musicians and creators, lots of singing, kid-friendly drinks, and great food.
This year will also once again feature the Golden Porta Potty. The idea, somewhat peculiar, is a festival favorite. This is an air conditioned gold porta potty complete with a TV screen, Wi-Fi, a chandelier, magazines, Pelegrino, and more. The festival gives out a certain amount of tickets to win a visit to the luxurious Golden Porta Potty. The lucky winners get to experience this one-of-a-kind bathroom trip.
Austin City Limits also continues to provide ticket funds to improve Austin parks by partnering with Austin Parks Foundation. Some previous park improvements include Plaza Saltillo, Dove Springs, and Covert Park at Mount Bonnell. This year funds are also expected to aid in the rendering of one of Austin’s beloved parks. Festival tickets are on sale now, you can grab them through the ACL website.
