Austin has a lot to offer, but most people probably don’t know that in addition to great restaurants and vibrant nightlife, the city has a great array of farmer’s markets. Read on to discover our favorites.

SFC Farmers’ Market – Downtown

SFC Farmers’ Market, or Sustainable Food Center Farmers’ Market, is a farmers’ market that is held every Saturday in downtown Austin. This farmers’ market provides an array of vendors with fresh, local, and organic food as well as live music. SFC also provides opportunities for patrons to start their own gardens at home and helps educate locals on cooking and nutrition. SFC excels in connecting residents with the local food system. Don’t miss out on this neighborhood favorite!

Austin County Flea Market

Austin County Flea Market is one of the oldest and largest flea markets in Central Texas. This flea market is located right outside of the city of Austin with over 300 vendors and live music every weekend. Some vendors sell local produce, local handmade crafts, and, of course, secondhand items. The paths and booths of this farmers’ market are covered, so you don’t have to worry about rain.

HOPE Farmers Market

HOPE Farmers Market is a weekly farmers’ market in East Austin. HOPE helps connect the community of Austin and provide local and healthy food to the region. In addition to local produce, HOPE also brings food artisans and artists, educational programming, and live music to the table. HOPE Farmers Market allows you to experience the flavors of local culture in a diverse and fun way.

Barton Creek Farmers Market

Barton Creek Farmers Market is just a short drive outside of the city and is open every Saturday. This farmers market has been going strong for 17 years and ranks as one of the top five farmers markets in the country, offering a wide variety of fresh, organic produce and local dairy and meats. Barton Creek Farmers Market will give you a great taste of the community.

Boggy Creek Farm

Boggy Creek Farm is a local, family-owned farm that has been in the works since 1992. Owners Carol Ann and Larry have both a country farm and an urban farm. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, they sell produce from both farms at their urban farm. The produce is organic and some of the best around. Be sure to check out their farm blog. The blog gives Boggy Creek an even more personal touch, and it also includes recipes.
