With sights like the River Walk and the historic Alamo, San Antonio is a hot destination for tourists —there’s so much to see and even more to do. On top of the large amount of restaurants and attractions San Antonio offers, there are yearly festivals that are worth attending, and when planning what to do as a resident or visitor, keep these festivals in mind.

 

MARCH

Murphy’s St. Patrick’s Day River Parade and Festival

Get dressed up in your best green attire and head over to the River Walk! The Murphy’s St. Patrick’s Day River Parade and Festival started in 1968 and has been a success ever since. Green beer will be sold at the Arneson River Theatre along with Irish (and other ethnic) foods, and the river itself will be dyed green.

Fiesta! San Antonio

Soul Food Festival & Gospel On The Plaza

Attendees are encouraged to bring canned foods, and all donations will be sent to the San Antonio Food Bank.

Texas Folklife Festival

Bud Light Halloween Fest

Ford Fiesta de las Luminarias

This beautiful festival lights up the river at night with more than 6,000 Luminarias, a traditional Mexican Christmas lantern consisting of a candle set in sand inside a small paper bag. If you miss it the first weekend, don’t worry — this event happens every weekend in December.
